Professor Cooper Seminar on 24th & 25th October 2008.

The Seminar weekend is planned in three parts :

  • a) Friday 24th October 2008 Morning - Talk for parents in Gozo. “Understanding and Helping Children with ADHD”. Venue : Ninu Cremona School Time : 09:00 Entrance : Gozo Group
  • b) Friday 24th October 2008 Evening - Talk for Parents in Malta “Understanding and Helping Children with ADHD”. Points that will also be tackled - School issues / Handling the ADHD Child/ Home work / Classroom Strategy. Venue : Gian Frangisk Abela (Junior College) Msida. Time : 18:30 Entrance : ADHD Members no entrance fee Others – 5.00 euro donation per family
  • c) Saturday 25th October 2008 Full day (09:00 to 16:00) Seminar for Psychologists, Teachers and Social Workers (inclusive of CPD certification by MUPP) (Coffee and finger lunch provided). Venue : Robert Sammut Hall, Floriana Time : 09:00 to 16:00 Entrance : Professionals 15.00 euro MUPP & ADHD members – 10.00 euro

    The Seminar is being organised by the ADHD Family Support Group (ADHD) and the Malta Union of Professional Psychologists (MUPP) and will be addressed by Professor Paul Cooper. The aim of the seminar is to treat ADHD through the Social, Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties (SEBD) approach, focussing on the different professions of the people attending. The main thrust will be to enhance cooperation between the different professionals. The idea being to aim at the ideal that teachers collaborate with Psychologists and vice versa, and where necessary Social workers are to be brought into the picture.

    Professor Cooper

    Professor Paul Cooper is a Chartered Psychologist and Director of the School of Education at the University of Leicester in England, U.K. He is also the founding Director of the Centre of Innovation in Raising Educational Achievement within the School of Education.

    He has published widely on the topic of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in schools, and is editor of the quarterly international journal Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, published by Routledge. In 2001 he was winner, with his co-authors (Mary Jane Drummond, Susan Hart, Jane Lovey and Colleen McLaughlin), of the Times Educational Supplement Academic Book Award for the book Positive Alternatives to Exclusion (published by Routledge).
